Portsmouth, NH Photo Walk

One of the brick paths, with a white bench on the left, leads deeper into the Prescott Park garden. A bright red, leafy plant dominates the right foreground, with the garden seen deeper into the frame on a misty morning in Portsmouth, NH

This Saturday, July 13th, I’ll be hosting my first ever photo walk in beautiful Portsmouth, NH.

Colonial era homes, beautiful gardens, lobster boats, busy Market Square, plenty of things to keep your shutter finger busy. And that doesn’t include all the shops and restaurants!

If you’re in the area please joins me for a fun, and free, day of exploring this picturesque seacoast town.

I’ll be meeting a few hardy souls in Prescott Park for sunrise, where I’ll then wait for those less inclined to get out of bed so early, before then wandering the town looking for photographic inspiration.

Sunday’s Hidden Treasure.

Here’s wishing you all Happy Holidays.

This weeks “Hidden Treasure” wasn’t really hidden, or forgotten.

But being of a very seasonal nature it hasn’t been looked at since I shared a very similar image this time last year.

Night time scene depicting Market Square in Portsmouth, NH. A cast iron street lamp, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and the well lit steeple of the North Church are all in this vertical image.

It’s almost that time of year again, time to recap 2012 with my 12, give or take, favorite images made over the past year. This year I plan to do something a little different as well. Not only am I going to be sharing my “Top 12 Of 2012,”  but with your help I would also like to share the top 12 “Fan Favorite” Jeff Sinon Photography images.

Now here is where the “And You Could Win It” part comes in. As incentive to get you to take part, one lucky person, drawn at random from those who cast a vote, starting today, 12/13/12 and ending 1/5/13,  will receive a signed 8″x12″ print of their favorite image, FREE.

Since not all the images I’ve made this year end up on my blog, you are not restricted to only photos I’ve shared here. You may also visit the Jeff Sinon Photography Fan Page, where my most recent photos are often shared first (“Liking” my page, though appreciated, is not required to view photos), or my website, www.jeffsinon.com.

Sunday’s Hidden Treasure

Late day sun causes the fallen leaves on the forest floor, as well as the remaining leaves on the trees to glow a wonderful orange-gold, with the trees casting long shadows. Bright blue sky can be seen through the trees, with a stone wall also in the background.

From late October through most of November, the most gorgeous golden light passes through the woods on the side of the road to my house. So far this is the best I’ve done to capture it. Taken back in 2008, only a few months after I bought my first camera, this is also my first attempt at HDR, not half bad if I do say so myself.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful

My beautiful blue eyed daughter Nicole in her leopard print winter coat. Sitting in a tree smiling down at me.

What have I got to be thankful for? Where do I start?

My wonderful wife, who supports me in every way, and is extremely supportive of my efforts to further my photography. Who never, okay, mostly never, complains when I disappear for days on end in pursuit of my next photograph. She truly is my better half.

My beautiful, unbelievably intelligent daughter (above). Nothing gives me greater pleasure than the sparkle in her eyes, and there is no better sound in the world than the sound of her laughter. She is the light of my life.

My camera. My camera has brought me to amazing places, and introduced to some amazing and talented people. It has enabled me to see the natural world around me as never before.

And finally, you, my fans and followers. You all keep me inspired to create new, and better images, to become a better photographer. For all your support I thank you.

BUY LOCAL ART!!

Night time photo of the north church in Portsmouth, NH. Vertical image of the well lit steeple in the background, and a nicely decorated Christmas tree in the foreground.

Give the gift that lasts all year long.

It’s that time of year again, the time for holiday gift giving. What better way to do it than to give the gift of local art. Since nobody really wants to fight the crowds on “Black Friday,” just to buy the same gift a thousand others have bought (do they?), why not give a unique, one of a kind piece of art from a local artist or crafts-person?

Starting today, November 20, and lasting through December 10, I’m offering 20% off site wide with the coupon code: BLACK20. That’s 21 days of Black Friday savings!

Thank you, BUT…

Here’s the important part. While I would be very appreciative should you choose to give one of my images as a gift this Holiday season, the main point of this post is this:

BUY LOCAL ART!!

Support your local photographer, painter, woodworker, sculptor, well you get the idea. Avoid the Mall and the Big Box stores, support the arts and BUY LOCAL!
