Sunday’s Hidden Treasure

Livermore Falls, Campton, NH.
I’ve always loved the patterns and colors in the ice along the cliff and now I’m finally getting around to doing something with this image.
I’m coming to realize that winter might very well be my favorite time of year to make photographs.
Original date of capture: 2/6/2010
Camera body: Canon EOS 40D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40 f4L
iso 100, 40mm, f16 @ 1/4 second.

Love the texture to the ice, and the ice-blue color as well. Unfortunately streams don’t get cold enough for that down here in CT. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I’m liking the idea of moving further North sometime in the foreseeable future!

I haven’t been on a winter outing for waterfalls for a while now, might be time for another waterfall trip. Fortunately, as long as we have a relatively normal winter, we have plenty of ice encased waterfalls to visit.

Lovely blue shades

The shades of turquoise are soft yet striking. I love the way you made winter look pretty and bright. Very nice, Jeff.

Thank you Isadora. It’s a toss-up as to whether Autumn or Winter is my favorite season to photograph in.

This is a lovely photo.

Thank you. I’ll never understand why people don’t like Winter

Some days, I prefer to admire it from afar…

My wife feels the same way!

it gave me chills,thumbs up

Thanks Yasmin! Not as much as it gave me the day I made it I bet. We need a good and cold winter for the waterfalls to freeze like this.

Looks like somewhere much more exotic than New Hampshire
January 14, 2013 at 9:44 pm
Waterfalls in the dead of winter can be a very exotic place. Unless a person is intimately familiar with the waterfall, most, even the most popular tourist spots, are completely unrecognizable when they are dressed for winter.

If my winter looked anything like this, I might like it a little bit more. Here it’s just grey and brown, so boring.
January 15, 2013 at 1:31 am
Now snow and ice? Yes that is very boring. Time for you to head to the mountains!

Greetings from Australia Jeff
I like the simplistic beauty and elegance of this photograph. Well done, you have a lovely series of photographs; keep up the great work

Thank you Cardinal, I do love the ice and snow.

Wow, fantastic image. I think I had some frost on my window one morning this winter
. Really like the blues in the crevices; perfect white balance to boot. Nice one!

Thanks Brandon! With the temps we’ve been getting lately, it might be time to revisit some of our waterfalls. It’s been a few years since I’ve made a “Winter waterfall” trip to the mountains.
