Weekly Photo Challenge: Journey
I got nothin’
At least I thought I didn’t. I was really drawing a blank for this week’s challenge. In fact I had pretty much given up and was looking forward to Friday for the next challenge so I could redeem myself.
Thanks to Paula, from Lost In Translation, who gave me a “motivational push,” I was able to find something hiding in my archives that I could squeeze in for this week.
The Journey,
Every one begins with a single step, as they say. My journey through the Saco Heath began with a nice stroll through the misty woods before coming to this boardwalk that winds through the bog itself. Before you ask, the walkway is more sturdy than it seems, but I did have to watch my step. Since I had timed my visit to coincide with the rhodora bloom, I was willing to brave a few rotten boards. I couldn’t have asked for better conditions either. The mist and fog were perfect for photography in a bog.

Very inviting journey. I think this also speaks to journeys as they aren’t always nice and neat with change along the way. I don’t mean in any way the photo isn’t nice and neat
I’m referring to the boarded path that has nooks and uneven spots and mismatches and tapers in areas, etc. Bravo!

This looks like an awesome place to walk and photograph! The vivid violets on the right make the image. Nice work Jeff!

Thanks Adam, it is a great place. Not only is it gorgeous when the rhodora are in full bloom, but there are quite a few other wildflowers along the path through the woods leading to the bog. Makes it hard to decide what to photograph first!

After paying a little visit to your little corner of blog-land, I have to say I am more than a little impressed. If I didn’t dislike photographing people, or even having them in my photos, as much as I do, I would wish to be able to do it as well as you do. You are an amazing wedding photographer. I can’t imagine any of your brides not being ecstatic with what you provide.

beautiful! i like the idea of a journey being more than what meets the eye. the path goes beyond the frame of the photo – a very welcoming image.

That I have.
But, some of the most inspiring “paths” I’ve crossed have been those of people such as yourself. One of the great satisfactions I get out of writing my blog is that I get to meet and interact with people the world over. 99.999% of whom I would never have crossed paths with if it weren’t for my photographs and blog. Yet here we are on a Sunday afternoon, half a world away…

As a home inspector, I have to say that the path shown is a serious trip hazard, a common cause of accident and injury. Now that I’ve done my civic duty, it’s beautiful! lol

A real fixer-upper that’s for sure! You can see that they are slowly repairing it with composite decking. I have mixed feelings about it though. The brighter red of the composite sticks out like a sore thumb. I had to do my best not to include any more of it than had to for the shot.
